$1 = ₦1,330€1 = ₦1,497£1 = ₦1,758The leadership crisis in the Obi Mbieri Town Union has entered a new phase after five of the six President Generals from the community's towns released an official statement together.

In their statement to the Executive Chairman of Mbaitoli Local Government Area, Hon. Ifunanya Nwanego, the President Generals made it clear they had nothing to do with a supposed town union election held by some individuals in the community. They said the election was neither approved nor recognised by the Obi Mbieri leadership and did not comply with the community's constitution or proper election procedures.
The five President Generals said the election was invalid and asked everyone in the community and the public to ignore any results or claims from the unauthorized process.
The leaders also confirmed their support for the election overseen by the Interim Town Union Government, set up by the Mbaitoli Local Government Chairman. This election, held on May 5, 2026, chose Chief Samuel Oparaugo as President General and is the only leadership process the signatories recognize as valid in Obi Mbieri.
Having five out of six President Generals support this position is important. Since Obi Mbieri has six towns, their open rejection of the disputed election shows the strong stance of the community's recognized leaders.
