Ohohia Diaspora Announces Delegation to Visit Obi Mbieri Traditional Ruler, Eze Dr (Elder). J.N Osuji. Reaffirms Confidence in OGA Leadership

OHOHIA, MBAITOLI LGA — Ohohia indigenes in the Diaspora have reaffirmed their support for the elected Executive of the Ohohia General Assembly (OGA), led by Chief Oscar Angus Okorie, and called for an ongoing commitment to constitutional governance, peace, and dialogue to address community issues.

These resolutions were outlined in a communiqué issued after an emergency general meeting on Sunday, June 21, 2026, themed "Preserving Constitutional Governance, Peace, Unity, and Sustainable Development in Ohohia."

Diaspora members discussed recent community developments and adopted resolutions to promote stability, democratic governance, and sustainable development.

Vote of Confidence in OGA Executive

The Diaspora body unanimously reaffirmed its "complete confidence" in the elected Executive of the Ohohia General Assembly, led by Chief Oscar Angus Okorie.

The group recognises the current Executive as the constitutionally mandated leadership of the Ohohia General Assembly and pledged continued support for its lawful and democratic administration of community affairs.

The communiqué noted that respect for constitutional procedures is essential to preserving unity and ensuring Ohohia’s long-term development.

Commendation for Eze Imo's Intervention

The meeting also expressed appreciation to His Royal Majesty, Eze (Dr.) E.C. Okeke, CFR (Eze Imo), Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Institution and Community Policing, for his timely intervention in recent matters concerning Obi-Mbieri Autonomous Community. The Council's recent directive, which emphasised due process and constitutional order in community affairs, stated that the intervention had reassured many residents and helped ease tensions within the autonomous community.

Members commended the traditional ruler's commitment to justice, constitutional governance, and peaceful coexistence.

Delegation to Visit Eze Obi-Mbieri

The meeting resolved to form a high-level delegation to visit His Royal Highness, Eze (Dr.) Josiah Osuji, traditional ruler of Obi-Mbieri Autonomous Community.

The communiqué stated that the visit aims to convey the goodwill of Ohohia indigenes in the Diaspora, seek the monarch's guidance on community issues, reaffirm support for constitutional governance, and demonstrate solidarity with lawful efforts to preserve the integrity and development of Obi-Mbieri Autonomous Community.

The communiqué explained that this decision followed members’ concerns about the monarch’s prolonged absence and their desire for direct engagement.

Commitment to Peace and Rule of Law

The Diaspora organisation reiterated its commitment to promoting peace, constitutional governance, accountability, transparency, and evidence-based community development. It seeks to strengthen democratic institutions while discouraging actions that could undermine peace, stability, and social harmony within the community.

The communiqué emphasised that community differences should be resolved through constitutional, traditional, administrative, and legal mechanisms rather than confrontation or self-help.

Appeal for Unity

Ohohia in Diaspora also appealed to all sons. Ohohia in Diaspora appealed to all community members, both at home and abroad, to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and committed to dialogue, while discouraging intimidation and actions that could deepen divisions, and encouraging constructive engagement among stakeholders.

"Our vision is an Ohohia united by justice, strengthened by peace, governed by law, and inspired by a common purpose for future generations," the communiqué stated.

Call for Collective Action

In its concluding remarks, the organiIn its concluding remarks, the organisation called on government institutions, traditional authorities, community leaders, youth organisations, women’s groups, and other stakeholders to embrace reconciliation, dialogue, and cooperation for sustainable development.g progress can only be achieved when constitutional order is respected, democratic institutions are strengthened, and the collective interests of the community are placed above personal ambitions.

Copies of the communiqué were addressed to the Imo State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Institution and Community Policing, the traditional ruler of Obi-Mbieri Autonomous Community, the Executive Chairman of Mbaitoli Local Government Council, and the President General of the Ohohia General Assembly.
