Obi Mbieri Secretary General Hon. Adol Osuji Declares Omume II Suspension Letter Null and Void

The Secretary General of the Obi Mbieri Government, Hon. Adol Osuji, has stated that the reported suspension of the Umuomume Village Head (Umuahii town) lacks constitutional backing and should be regarded as null and void.

In a statement made available to Eziokwubundu.com, Hon. Osuji advised community members to disregard the suspension letter issued by the palace secretary, emphasizing that it holds no legal or constitutional validity within the framework of the Obi Mbieri autonomous community.

He noted that neither the palace secretary nor the individuals reportedly present at the referenced “Eze-in-Council” meeting possess the constitutional authority to take such action. According to him, decisions of this nature must strictly follow the procedures and structures clearly outlined in the Obi Mbieri Constitution.

Clarifying further, the Secretary General explained that the Council of Elders—often referred to as the Eze-in-Council—is a constitutionally defined body with a specific composition. This includes the Traditional Prime Minister, leadership of the Town Union, representatives of constituent village unions, titled chiefs, Nze na Ozo members, and selected stakeholders subject to proper ratification.

He emphasized that when the Council of Elders convenes, it is the Traditional Prime Minister who presides, while the Eze serves in a patron capacity. Additionally, the council functions in an advisory role, with its resolutions requiring proper implementation through the Town Union in collaboration with the traditional institution.

Hon. Osuji questioned whether these constitutional provisions were adhered to in the process that led to the suspension, stating that available information indicates they were not. As such, he maintained that the action lacks legitimacy and should not be recognized by members of the community.

He further urged stakeholders to remain guided by due process, respect for constitutional order, and commitment to peace and stability within Obi Mbieri. Emphasizing the need for responsible leadership, he cautioned against actions or advice that could create unnecessary tension or undermine unity in the community.
