Obi Mbieri New Government Headed by Mr. Clement Ohanyerenwa Overcomes Initial Setback, Records Successful Special Meeting on Saturday February 7, 2026

The newly constituted Obi Mbieri autonomous community government, under the leadership of Mr. Clement Ohanyerenwa, has recorded a major breakthrough after successfully holding a special meeting on Saturday, February 7, 2026, despite initial setbacks and opposition from the EZE SAID EZE SAID dissident group.

The meeting, which took place in Eziakpu Hall, Ebom town Obi Mbieri, marked a turning point for the new leadership following early challenges that trailed its emergence. Community stakeholders, elders, youth representatives, women leaders, and supporters of the new administration were present, demonstrating growing acceptance and confidence in the Ohanyerenwa – led government.

According to the eziokwubundu.com reporter who was at the Nworie Ebom hall, the initial venue of the meeting. The EZE SAID EZE SAID dissidents group headed by Chief Ugonna Achuko and Chief Martin Iwuajoku (Onye Ugo) stormed the venue of the meeting and disrupted the scheduled commencement of the meeting. In the interest of peace and to avoid confrontations, Mr. Clement Ohanyerenwa, the leader of the new Obi Mbieri government changed the venue of the meeting to Eziakpu Hall, Ebom town. 

Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Clement Ohanyerenwa acknowledged the difficulties faced at the early stage of the administration, noting that resistance and misinformation were expected in any period of transition. He emphasized that the new government remains committed to inclusive leadership, transparency, and the overall development of Obi Mbieri.

According to him, the purpose of the special meeting was to reaffirm unity, clarify misunderstandings, and chart a clear path forward for the community. He called on all aggrieved parties to embrace dialogue rather than division, stressing that Obi Mbieri’s progress must be placed above personal interests.

In his opening address to Obi Mbieri people, Mr. Clement Ohanyerenwa used the opportunity to educate the Obi Mbieri people and informed them that the local government Chairman Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo has inaugurated the new Obi Mbieri government and the new government is here to restore peace, unity and sanity in Obi Mbieri. He further tasked all the Obi Mbieri town representatives present to go down to their various towns and villages and speak for peace and unity. 

He further said in his opening address that apart from restoring peace, unity and sanity in Obi Mbieri, they are also tasked to organise Obi Mbieri Town Union election in due time. According to Mr. Clement Ohanyerenwa, when the election time is announced, anybody that is interested in any position should go and pick up the form and file for the position of his interest. He charged the people of Obi Mbieri to remain calm, reject violence and never make any trouble with anyone. 

The secretary of the Obi Mbieri new government Hon (Chief) Adolphus C. Osuji added that the meeting is particularly a delegate meeting. Each town in Obi Mbieri was informed to come with 10 people to represent them. He echoed that today’s meeting is to inform the Obi Mbieri people that this is the new Obi Mbieri government. He said that for over two years Obi Mbieri has had no town union government. He emphasised that the Ezeukwu 1 of Obi Mbieri, Eze (Elder) J. N Osuji remains the Eze of Obi Mbieri as long as he is alive and nobody is contesting that with him. Hon (Chief) Adolphus C. Osuji further said that nobody is planning to remove the Eze and that it is not done. According to him, let the Eze be and also let the town union government be and that the Obi Mbieri autonomous community new government has come to stay. He reiterated that the two things that make up an autonomous community are the Eze and the town union. He further warned the EZE SAID EZE SAID dissidents group that they are exposing the lapses in the palace that will make people start asking questions – WHERE IS THE EZE?. He added that in due course the new government will write the Ezeukwu 1 of Obi Mbieri Eze (Elder) J.N Osuji and inform him that they would like to visit him at his palace to seek his blessings. 

Participants at the meeting applauded the leadership for its resilience and maturity in handling opposition without resorting to confrontation. Several speakers described the successful meeting as proof that the new government has the capacity to stabilize the community and move it in a positive direction. All the towns in Obi Mbieri were represented at the special meeting. Umuahii town was represented by 6 people while the other towns in Obi Mbieri were represented by about 10 people per town. 

Despite attempts by EZE SAID EZE SAID dissident groups to disrupt the process, the meeting ended peacefully, with resolutions reached on key community matters and renewed commitment to cooperation among Obi Mbieri people and residents.

Observers say the successful special meeting signals a fresh start for Obi Mbieri, as the new government continues to consolidate its authority and focus on peace, unity, and sustainable development for the community.
