Fresh concerns have emerged within the Obi Mbieri Autonomous Community following reports of alleged illegalities in palace administration, prompting stakeholders to call for transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to due process.

According to information obtained by Eziokwubundu.com from palace insiders, it is alleged that for over four years, Chief Emmanuel Ahuokpoeme has neither communicated with nor had direct contact with the Ezeukwu I of Obi Mbieri, Eze (Elder) J. N. Osuji. Despite this, reports claim that he continues to sign official palace documents on behalf of the traditional ruler—an action raising questions among concerned community members.

Similarly, Chief Uzoma Ekeanyanwu, who identifies himself as the traditional prime minister, is reportedly under a court order instructing him to desist from parading himself in that capacity. Available video evidence, as cited by sources, suggests that this directive may have been disregarded, further deepening concerns about compliance with legal rulings.

Court documents also allegedly caution Chief Emmanuel Ahuokpoeme against actions that could undermine the peace and unity of Obi Mbieri. However, stakeholders argue that continued authorization of palace documents without clear consent from the Eze may contradict this directive.

Additional concerns have been raised regarding the roles assigned within the palace structure. Chief Martins Iwuajoku (Onyeugo) is said to hold a position described by some as lacking constitutional backing. The Obi Mbieri constitution does not support the use of attack dogs in the palace.

Members of a group reportedly aligned with the Eze have also claimed that they have not had any direct communication with the Eze for over five years.

There are also allegations of external influence in community affairs, with claims that financial backing from Prince Ikechukwu Osuji may be driving actions perceived by some stakeholders as inconsistent with established legal and traditional frameworks. In particular, the formation of what has been described as an “interim caretaker committee” has drawn criticism, with questions raised about its legitimacy and the process through which it was constituted.

Stakeholders emphasize that, under the Imo State laws governing autonomous communities and traditional institutions, a town union government attains legitimacy only after proper registration and approval by the relevant local government authority.

Reports have also surfaced alleging attempts to influence village heads in Obi Mbieri through material incentives and digging of bore holes.

Additionally, there are indications that plans may be underway to conduct illegal elections under the supervision of the disputed illegal caretaker committee – an action some say an illegal election will only bring out illegal results.

Community members have called on the Ezeukwu I of Obi Mbieri to address the people directly, noting that open communication is essential to restoring confidence and unity.

Many stakeholders are also urging relevant authorities, including the Mbaitoli Local Government and Imo State officials, to intervene where necessary to ensure that the rule of law is upheld and take appropriate actions for the Ezeukwu 1 of Obi Mbieri, Eze (Elder) J.N Osuji to address Obi Mbieri people. “The time is now,” said one stakeholder.

Observers warn that continued disputes and allegations of non-compliance with legal directives could undermine peace and stability in Obi Mbieri. “We call on the Imo state government authorities to intervene and address these illegalities emanating from the palace of Ezeukwu 1 of Obi Mbieri”, said one stakeholder.
