In the face of a lingering crisis affecting the Umuahii College Site in Umuomume Village, Umuahii Obi Mbieri autonomous community, stakeholders across the village have issued a strong call for unity among landowners, emphasizing that collective action remains the most effective path toward lasting resolution.

The situation, which has created uncertainty within the village, has drawn the attention of the leaders and concerned landowners. Many have expressed worry that continued court cases between the Umuahii General Assembly and Chief Sabastine Amahuo could further complicate efforts to address the underlying issues and delay meaningful progress.
Community leaders stressed that the strength of Umuomume village in particular and Umuahii in general lies in its shared heritage and collective responsibility. They urged all parties involved in the ongoing court cases to set aside personal differences and interest and prioritize the common good and the long – term wellbeing of the community, noting that unity would provide a stronger platform for dialogue, negotiation, and engagement with relevant authorities.
“Now more than ever, we must come together as one people,” a landowner representative stated. “A divided front weakens our voice, but unity gives us the power to protect our interests and secure a better future for our community.”
Villagers have also highlighted the broader implications of the court crisis, pointing out its potential impact on development, investment opportunities, and the overall peace of the area. According to them, a coordinated approach among landowners would not only help resolve current disputes but also lay the foundation for sustainable growth and stability.
As part of the proposed way forward, stakeholders are encouraging the formation of a unified forum or committee or union that will represent all landowners. Such a body would serve as a central platform for decision-making, conflict resolution, and communication with external parties.
Central to this effort is the immediate compilation and public release of a verified list of all recognized landowners in the Umuomume College Site and setting up of a Umuomume college site landowners committee or union. Stakeholders believe that this will help eliminate disputes, prevent misinformation, and establish a clear framework for engagement.
In addition, each landowner listed is being encouraged to appoint a trusted representative who will participate in dialogue and negotiations on behalf of their respective families or interests and submit that to Umuomume palace. This move is expected to streamline communication, reduce conflict, and create a more organized platform for addressing concerns.
Community leaders stressed that unity does not mean uniformity, but rather a shared commitment to peace, fairness, and sustainable development. “When we speak with one voice, we are stronger and more capable of achieving lasting solutions,” one landowner remarked.
