Peace Returns  As Mbaitoli Executive Hon. Ifunanya Lactus Nwanegwo Resolves Obi Mbieri Leadership Tussle

Ohanyerenwa emerges  Interim President General

Following the brave move by the Executive Chairman of Mbaitoli LGA, Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo on January 19, 2026. Peace is said to have returned to Obi Mbieri autonomous community in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State. According to Nigeria watchdog report in July 4, 2023, Obi Mbieri had been in turmoil for quite sometime following the absence of the Traditional Ruler, HRH, Eze J.N Osuji whose whereabout elicited controversy and mixed reactions from different quarters in the community.

In the Chairman letter to Eze J.N Osuji and the entire Obi Mbieri people, he formally notified His Royal Highness, the Tradional Prime Minister, the village Heads, and the entire good people of Obi Mbieri Autonomous community the constitution of an Interim Administrative / Caretaker Committee for Obi Mbieri Autonomous Community. He also reiterated that this is in accordance with his constitutional responsibility to ensure peace, orderliness and security in the discharge of the mandate of the Ezecutive Govenor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Odidika Uzodinma.

He mandated the Interim Administrator / Caretaker Committee to oversee the general affairs of the community, maintain law and order, foster unity among the people and create a conducive environment for orderly administration. The membership of the Interim Administrator / Caretaker committee is as follows:

Mr. Clement Ohanyerenwa – Interim President General (Umuotonwoke 1 Village, Umuagwu)

Chief Adol Osuji – Secretary (Umuokwerehiji, Umuahii)

Mr. Okechukwu Iwuajoku – Youth Leader (Umunkwo, Obokwe)

Mr. Valentine Chibundu – Financial Secretary ( Ebom)

Mr. Kenneth Duruji – Public Relations officer (PRO)

Pastor Moses Nwanna – Provost (Umuduru)

Mr. Samuel Nwaigbo – Treasurer (Ohohia)

Mrs. Nkiru Sylvanus – Woman Leader (Ohohia)

The Chairman in his closing letter asked the good people of Obi Mbieri Autonomous Community to accord this Interim / Transitional Administration their full cooperation and support in the collective interest of peace, progress and sustainable development of the community and Imo State at large.

He also warned that any individual or group found to be obstructing, undermining or disrupting the peaceful execution of the duties of the Interim Adminstration shall be dealt with in accordance with the extant laws and policies of the Imo State Government
