The information reaching our Newsroom today confirmed that the concerned group in Obi Mbieri Autonomous community led by Chief Onyeugo, Mr. Collins Opara and Chief Ugonna Achuko had defied Hon. Ifunanya directive for the people of Obi Mbieri Autonomous Community to enjoin and accord the Interim / Transitional Administration their full cooperation and support in the collective interest of of peace, progress and sustainable development of the community and Imo State at large.
Eziokwubundu.com team investigation today revealed that yesterday night this group disseminated messages to all towns and villages in Obi Mbieri through the local village town criers regarding their today’s gathering at Obi Mbieri Hall Orie Ebom. We were informed by someone with inner knowledge of the gathering that Eze (Elder) J. N Osuji, the Ezeukwu 1 of Obi Mbieri Autonomous community directed them to defy the Mbaitoli Chairman Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo directives. The group claimed that the Local Government Chairman do not have such powers to appoint caretaker committee for Obi Mbieri and they further added that it is the sole responsibility of the Ezeukwu 1 of Obi Mbieri, Eze J. N Osuji to appoint such a committee.
Gathered at the meeting today at Obi Mbieri Hall, Orie Ebom were Chief Onyeugo, the SSA to Ezeukwu 1 of Obi Mbieri, Mr. Collins Opara, Chief Ugonna Achuko, Umuahii youth President Chigaemezu Igbo, Chief G. N Onuoha and good number of Obi Mbieri Men and women the group were able to organised. etc. The group claimed that they have also scheduled another gathering at Obi Mbieri Hall Orie Mbieri tomorrow at 10:00 AM same time and place the Interim caretaker committee have scheduled a General meeting tomorrow.
Some Obi Mbieri indigenous people that we interview at the gathering claimed that these scenario is threatening the peace and unity of Obi Mbieri Autonomous community and hereby call on the local government Chairman Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo to intervene and settle the crisis caused by leadership vacuum that have lingered in Obi Mbieri Autonomous community for over 8 years now.
